What is koukouTV ?

koukouTV is the optimal application to use the iPhone or iPad as a digital photo frame. The application supports various photo sharing services including Flickr, Picasa, Facebook and so on. Even if you do not have the iPhone or iPad at hand, you can change the settings of the slideshow services and albums via the koukouTV website from anywhere.

How to start using koukouTV?

You can download the koukouTV application from AppStore. To use the service, Wi-Fi high speed internet access is required. You may use the service with the 3G internet connection, but the switching between photos in the slideshow may be very slow.

In addition, you need to complete the user registration for the relevant photo sharing service. For the photo sharing services, see the "What are the photo sharing services?" section.

Setting up koukouTV

You need to make the initial settings to display the slideshows with the koukouTV application. You can make the initial settings within the application or through the koukouTV website on the separate PC.

Setting within the application
  1. 1.  When the application is started, the page “Hello!” is displayed. After that, the dialog “Your album setting has not completed yet.” is displayed. Tap on “Setup albums” under the dialog.
  2. 2.  Select the photo sharing service, the account and the album to which the photos to display are uploaded in the “Setup your album” page.
  3. 3.  When the setting is completed, click “Close” on the left top of the screen to start the slideshow.
Setting through the website
  1. 1.  When the application is started, the dialog “Your album setting has not completed yet.” is displayed. Write down the device ID shown in the dialog.
  2. 2.  Access the koukouTV website (http://www.koukou.tv) and click “Album setting.
  3. 3.  Select iPhone or iPad in the “Device setting” page. Enter the device ID and click “submit”.
  4. 4.  Select the photo sharing service, the account and the album to which the photos to display are uploaded in the “Setup your album” page.
  5. 5.  When the setting is completed, start the koukouTV iPhone application to start the slideshow.

Setting the various photo sharing services

<Featured Photos (Picasa)>
  1. 1.  Select "Featured Photos" and click "submit"
<Search Photos (Picasa)>
  1. 1.  Input the keyword of picture which you want to display and click "submit"

  1. 1.  It is required to authenticate the account to use. Click “To select your album, please authenticate your account from here.” in the “Album setting” page to conduct the authentication.
  2. 2.  If you are already logged in to mixi, the use agreement screen is displayed, and click "Agree". If you are not yet logged in to mixi, you will jump to the login screen of mixi. After you log in with the account of the album to display, the use agreement screen is displayed, and click "Agree". You will be back to the setting screen of koukouTV with the account displayed. To use the account other than the one displayed, click “To use another account, please authenticate from here” and log in to mixi again.
  3. 3.  Select the album to which the photos to display are uploaded from the albums list and click “submit”.
<Facebook>
  1. 1.  It is required to authenticate the account to use. Click “To select your album, please authenticate your account from here.” in the “Album setting” page to conduct the authentication.
  2. 2.  If you are already logged in to Facebook, the currently logged-in Facebook account is automatically displayed. If you are not yet logged in to Facebook, you will jump to the login screen of Facebook. After you log in with the account of the album to display, you will be back to the setting screen of koukouTV with the account displayed. To use the account other than the one displayed, click “To use another account, please authenticate from here” and log in to Facebook again. Confirm that the account is the one for the album to display, and click “Show your album list”.
  3. 3.  Select the album to which the photos to display are uploaded from the albums list and click “submit”.
<Picasa>
  1. 1.  Enter the account user name to display and click “Show your album list”. Account means your Google account.
  2. 2.  Select the album to which the photos to display are uploaded from the albums list and click “submit“. To display a private album, click “To select your private albums, please authenticate your account from here.” and conduct the authentication.
<Flickr>
  1. 1.  Enter the account (Alias) to display and click “Show your album list”. You can find your Alias in the URL of the “Your photostream” page. ●●●● is the Alias in the example below:

  2. 2.  Select the album to which the photos to display are uploaded from the albums list (Sets) and click “submit“. To display a private album, click “To select your private albums, please authenticate your account from here.” and conduct the authentication.
<Photozou>
  1. 1.  It is required to authenticate the account to use. Click “To select your album, please authenticate your account from here.” in the “Album setting” page to conduct the authentication.
  2. 2.  You will jump to the authentication page of Photozou. Check that the account is the one for the album to display and click “Show your album list”. When the login screen of Photozou is displayed, log in with the account to use so that the authentication page of Photozou is displayed.
  3. 3.  You will be returned to the album selection page of koukouTV automatically.
  4. 4.  Select the album to which the photos to display are uploaded from the albums list and click “submit”.

  1. 1.  Enter the TwitPic account to use and click “submit”. The account is the Twitter account that is generally used in TwitPic.
<Tumblr>
  1. 1.  It is required to authenticate the account to use. Click “To select your album, please authenticate your account from here.” in the “Album setting” page to conduct the authentication.
  2. 2.  If you are already logged in to Tumblr, the use agreement screen is displayed, and click "Agree". If you are not yet logged in to Tumblr, you will jump to the login screen of Tumblr. After you log in with the account of the album to display, the use agreement screen is displayed, and click "Agree". You will be back to the setting screen of koukouTV. To use the account other than the one displayed, click “To use another account, please authenticate from here” and log in to Tumblr again. Confirm that the account is the one for the album to display, and click “Show your album list”.
  3. 3.  Select the dashboard or blog to which the photos to display are uploaded from the albums list and click “submit”.

Setting a password

You can set a password for the koukouTV application. If you set a password, the password is required in addition to the device ID before you select the albums. This will help prevent unauthorized changes in the album settings by others who only know the device ID. The password setting is not mandatory, but it is recommended to set a password if you feel unsafe only with the device ID.

Setting within the application
  1. 1.  Start the koukouTV application and tap on “Menu” that is displayed when you touch the screen.
  2. 2.  Tap on “Password” in the displayed menu items.
  3. 3.  The setting screen is displayed. Enter a password (at least four English one-byte characters) and an e-mail address, and tap on “submit”.
  4. 4.  The confirmation message for the password setting will be sent to the mail address you entered. Click the “URL for password setting” in the mail body of the received message to complete the password setting. Note that the URL for password setting will be valid only for one hour. If the link has become invalid, repeat the steps to set the password over again.

If you enter the mail address of the mobile phone and are restricting the mail reception to the designated domains, make sure to change the setting in advance so that you can receive mails from “@koukou.tv”.

Setting through the website
  1. 1.  Access the koukouTV website (http://www.koukou.tv) and click “Album setting.
  2. 2.  Select iPhone or iPad in the “Device setting” page. Enter the device ID and click "Set password to change albums for this device" over the "submit" buton.
  3. 3.  The setting screen is displayed. Enter a password (at least four English one-byte characters) and an e-mail address, and tap on “submit”.
  4. 4.  The confirmation message for the password setting will be sent to the mail address you entered. Click the “URL for password setting” in the mail body of the received message to complete the password setting. Note that the URL for password setting will be valid only for one hour. Resetting a password

You can reset the password by following the steps below using the mail address you registered when you set the password.

Resetting within the application
  1. 1.  Start the koukouTV application and tap on “Menu” that is displayed when you touch the screen.
  2. 2.  Tap on “Password” in the displayed menu items. If the password is already set, the screen to confirm whether you reset the password will be displayed.
  3. 3.  When you press “Reset your password”, the confirmation message will be sent to the registered mail address. Click the URL for password reset in the mail body of the received message to complete the password resetting. Note that the URL for password reset will be valid only for one hour. If the link has become invalid, repeat the steps to reset the password over again.
Resetting through the website
  1. 1.  Access the koukouTV website (http://www.koukou.tv) and click “Album setting.
  2. 2.  Select iPhone or iPad in the “Device setting” page. Enter the device ID and click “submit”.
  3. 3.  "Input the device password" is displayed and click "Reset your password" next to "Sign in".
  4. 4.  When you press “Reset your password”, the confirmation message will be sent to the registered mail address. Click the URL for password reset in the mail body of the received message to complete the password resetting. Note that the URL for password reset will be valid only for one hour. If the link has become invalid, repeat the steps to reset the password over again.

Showing the descriptions of photos

You can change the setting whether to show the descriptions of photos in the “Setup your album” page. To show the descriptions, check the checkbox at the bottom of the albums list. The checkbox is displayed as follows in each service:

  • <Featured Photos> “Show photo captions”
  • <Search Photos> “Show photo captions”
  • <mixi> “Show photo comments”
  • <Facebook> “Show photo captions”
  • <Picasa> “Show photo captions”
  • <Flickr> “Show photo descriptions”
  • <Photozou> “Show photo title”
  • <TwitPic> “Show photo messages”
  • <Tumblr> “Show photo captions”

Even when the checkbox is checked, nothing will be shown if the description is blank. Or, when the description to be shown is too long, it will be shown partially.

Changing the album to display

You can change the photos to display in the application or through a PC with a web browser from anywhere at any time. Changes in setting will be reflected automatically within 60 minutes, or immediately after the application is restarted.

Setting in the application
  1. 1.  Start the koukouTV application and tap on “Menu” displayed in the upper right corner when you touch the screen. Tap on “Album setting” in the displayed menu items. When the application is started for the first time, the dialog “Your album setting has not completed yet. Please setup your album.” is displayed. Tap on “Album setting” under the dialog.
  2. 2.  Select the photo sharing service, the account and the album to which the photos to display are uploaded in the “Setup your album” page.
  3. 3.  When the setting is completed, click “Close” on the left top of the screen to start the slideshow.
Setting through the website
  1. 1.  Access the koukouTV website (http://www.koukou.tv) and click “Album setting.
  2. 2.  Select iPhone or iPad in the “Device setting” page. Enter the device ID and click “submit”.
  3. 3.  Select the photo sharing service, the account and the album to which the photos to display are uploaded in the “Setup your album” page.
  4. 4.  When the setting is completed, start the koukouTV iPhone application to start the slideshow.

Adding BGM to a slideshow

You can enjoy the slideshows while playing BGM by using the iPod function.

  1. 1.  Store the music file to be used as BGM on the iPhone/iPad in advance.
  2. 2.  Terminate the koukouTV application. Start the iPod application within the iPhone/iPad and play the music to be used as BGM.
  3. 3.  Terminate the iPod application with the BGM played, and start the koukouTV iPhone application.

Sending device ID by e-mail

  1. 1.  Start the koukouTV application and tap on “Menu” displayed in the upper right corner when you touch the screen.
  2. 2.  Tap on “Set up albums from your PC” in the displayed menu items.
  3. 3.  You will jump to the “Set up albums from your PC” page. Enter the mail address of the PC to be used to make the setting.
  4. 4.  Open the received mail on the PC to be used to make the setting and click the URL in the mail body. The setting screen of koukouTV is displayed on the web browser with the device ID entered.

If you enter the mail address of the mobile phone and are restricting the mail reception to the designated domains, make sure to change the setting in advance so that you can receive mails from “@koukou.tv”.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Does it cost me to use the koukouTV?

koukouTV is the free application for now. To start using the service, you need to have an iPhone/iPad and you can download the application from the AppStore. You also need the have internet access; you can use the service with the 3G internet connection, but the Wi-Fi connection is recommended.

Where can I check the device ID?

The ten-digit character, when the application is started up. It is displayed first.

Can I use the service with the 3G internet connection?

We recommend the Wi-Fi connection for koukouTV. You may use the service with the 3G internet connection, but the switching between photos in the slideshow may be very slow.

What are the photo sharing services?

It is the web services in which you can show your photos to your family and friends through a PC or a mobile phone by uploading photos and videos you have taken. Many free or paid photo sharing services are available, including Flickr provided by Yahoo! Inc. and Picasa provided by Google Inc.

How can I start using the photo sharing services?

To use koukouTV, you need to register for the supported photo sharing services. Check the website of each service for the registration and usage of the service.

Can I use other photo sharing services?

What is "Featured photos"?

The photo of the "Featured photo" function which Picasa offers is displayed.

What is "Keyword"?

Where can I find the account (Login ID) of minpoke?

Login ID is the email address that you registered in minpoke.

How can I play the slideshows without interruption?

According to the specifications, you can play the slideshow of koukouTV without interruption while an iPhone/iPad is being recharged even if the “Auto-Lock” of the device is set. However, the Auto-Lock setting has a priority while the iPhone/iPad is not being recharged and the Auto-Lock is enabled when the specified time comes, even if the koukouTV is running. To play the slideshows without interruption, use the service while the iPhone/iPad is being recharged, or go to “Settings” > “General” > “Auto-Lock” and select “Never” ond so that the Auto-Lock is not enabled during the slideshows and you can play them without interruption.

What should I do if I forget my password?

If you forget your password, you need to reset the previous password and set a new one. You can confirm the method from here.

How can I stop using the service?

You do not need to do anything special. Just delete the application from the iPhone/iPad. If you wish to delete the album data you stored in the iPhone application, click “Delete your settings” in the “Setup your album” page to delete all the registered information.

Troubleshooting

“Your account is invalid” is displayed when I enter the account

The account may be incorrect, or it may not be recognized correctly due to special characters contained in it. We can investigate the problem for you if the problem remains even after you check the account, so contact us through the inquiry form in that case.

The Flickr albums are not displayed in the “Setup your album” page

It is suspected that the account is incorrect or there is no album set to be shown publicly. A “Set” is handled as an album in koukouTV. Make sure that one or more “Set” has been created. To display the private albums, click “To select your private albums, please authenticate your account from here.” above the albums list. You will jump to the Yahoo! login page. Enter the password for your Yahoo! ID and authorize koukouTV to access to the Flickr data. If you have already logged in, you will not jump to the login page but will be authenticated automatically. By conducting the above procedure, you can display the list of private albums.

The authentication link to show the private albums in Flickr is not displayed

It is assumed that you have already been authenticated. Click “Delete your settings” and reset the settings to display the authentication link again.

The private albums are not displayed after the authentication in Flickr

It is suspected that the account you used to log in to Flickr and that of the private album to display are not same. After confirming the account you used to log in to Flickr, click “Delete your settings” to reset the settings and retry.

To display a private album of others, your account needs be registered as the public account of the album.

The Picasa albums are not displayed in the “Setup your album” page

It is suspected that the account is incorrect or there is no album set to be shown publicly. To display the private albums, click “To select your private albums, please authenticate your account from here.” above the albums list. You will jump to the Google login page. Enter the password for your Google account and authorize koukouTV to access to the Picasa data. If you have already logged in, you will not jump to the login page but to the authentication page. By conducting the above procedure, you can display the list of private albums.

The authentication link to show the private albums in Picasa is not displayed

It is assumed that you have already been authenticated. Click “Delete your settings” and reset the settings to display the authentication link again.

The private albums are not displayed after the authentication in Picasa

It is suspected that the account you used to log in to Google and that of the private album to display are not same. After confirming the account you used to log in to Google, click “Delete your settings” to reset the settings and retry.

To display a private album of others, your account needs be registered as the public account of the album.

Changes in the album settings are not reflected to the application

Changes in setting will be reflected automatically within 60 minutes, or immediately after the iPhone application is restarted.

Not all the photos in the album are displayed

According to the specifications of each photo sharing service, the photos stored in the album are displayed as follows:

  • <Featured Photos> 100 photos from the first one are displayed in the sorting order in the "Featured Photos".
  • <Search Photos> 100 photos from the first one are displayed in the sorting order in the result of search.
  • <mixi> 100 photos from the first one are displayed in the sorting order in the album.
  • <Facebook> 100 photos from the first one are displayed in the order they were added to the album.
  • <Picasa> 100 photos from the first one are displayed in the sorting order in the album.
  • <Flickr> 100 photos from the first one are displayed in the sorting order in the Set.
  • <Photozou> 100 photos from the first one are displayed in the sorting order in the album.
  • <TwitPic> 100 photos from the most recently uploaded one are displayed in the order they were uploaded.
  • <Tumblr> 100 photos from the first one are displayed in the sorting order in the album.

The videos in the album are not displayed.

You cannot play the videos in the album according to the current specifications.

I have not received a confirmation message for password setting or reset

Check that the mail address is correct and the message is not incorrectly sorted into the spam folder. If you have registered the mail address of the mobile phone, check the setting so that mails from “@koukou.tv” can be received. If the situation does not change, contact us through the inquiry form.

The application is frozen (photos are not switched or not displayed)

Check that the Wi-Fi is correctly connected, and shutdown and restart the application. If the situation does not change, contact us through the inquiry form.

The “Auto-Lock” setting is not enabled while the application is running

Even if the “Auto-Lock” of the device is set, the slideshows of koukouTV is played without interruption while the iPhone/iPad is being recharged according to the specifications. When the iPhone/iPad is not being recharged, the Auto-Lock setting has a priority and the Auto-Lock is enabled when the specified time comes even if koukouTV is running.

An error dialog is displayed when the application is started

It is suspected that the internet connection is not established. Check that Wi-Fi is connected properly. If the situation does not change, contact us through the inquiry form.
